Eve, they are playing your song ROFL!

Seriously, the males of some species have what are called 'enlarged post-anal scales', just below and parallel with the vent slit. Without another lizard for comparison, it may be hard to see what this is about. The garden faery should be along with a jpg any time now...

...that I posted here. You would need to get a good, clear closeup of the *unmentionable* area of your lizard, and then anyone here could tell. But its a better bet to hope Eve either posts the pics she took of her lizards again or emails her set of pics to you. Its pretty easy to tell the sex of Eastern collareds (usually) LOL.
