Recently I have been looking into the Indonesian monitors just to expand my knowledge on reptiles and for the future when I satiate my appetite for a large lizard.
I have been really looking into Dumerils. The biggest is said to be 5 feet. Well, how big is that compared to an adult person? Does anyone have a picture with a comparison? I have never seen an adult Dumeril up close, so I am just curious.
Now, If I were to one day get a monitor, Of the Indonesian species which are the best for a beginner? I am looking for a dog-tame individual that is somewhat arboreol and not huge. The salvators are of that category of huge to me. Nothing over 5ft for sure. I have been looking into the black trees, but I hear they have one hell of bite. I am looking for a monitor that I could take to schools and educate the public about reptiles. The reason I want a monitor from the Indonesian area is the fact that I think they look the best.
Space is somewhat limited, so I am understanding my limitations now. Also, is there a place to buy crayfish and roaches online? I ask about the crayfish because I hear Dums eat shellfish... I want to give them what they would have in the wild.
Thanks alot in advance.
