If the tongue is black it is a Yellow Rat Snake.

You are welcome.Did you catch him/her yourself or is he/she captive bred? Just becareful...Yellow Rats will nail you pretty good if you aren't careful!! My yearling Yellow Rat is captive bred and is fairly aggressive.Lucky for me he is small/young enough where getting bit by him doesn't do any damage and will get use to me handling him.He already doesn't strike me as much after 2 weeks. I was just asking cause in that 2nd picture you have up he/she is in a classic stike mode..Head off the ground and in a 'S'..didn't look to happy you were taking the picture...lol
i didnt catch him myself but he is wild caught,,,,he is so stressed out,,everytime i put my hand in the tank he goes on strike mode,,,,im gonna have to tame him,,,,
Sorry, didn't see that second picture you had posted.He/she is definately a yellow rat snake. The stripes on the everglades rat snake aren't as defined and if the tongue is black as you said that is the main way to tell.I am no expert by far but I'd say it's a Yellow.

It looks like a yellow to me. How big is it? My Everglades was very orange by the time it was a couple feet. Before that it was brownish with saddling. Once it got oranger it had less striping too. Wish I had a pict...will have to take one soon. He is pink in shed right now.
