Need Parasite ID, pics.....

wolfcharmer Jan 04, 2004 10:23 AM

I performed a fecal float for my bearded dragon yesterday and I found several pinworm eggs and also this suspicious worm-looking thing. Could it be a parasite?

Magnification: 40x, methylene blue stain

Mag.: 400x

Pics were taken with Nikon 4300.
Thanks

They look like fibers to me. Not parasites.

It would have been better if you could have gotten a high-magnification shot of each end.

I agree with Ruggero, tentatively. Most likey artifact. There is a possibility, however that it could be Strongyloids. Were there any embryonated ova in the specimen? Normally the only "worm" larvae you will find in a fecal float is Strongyloids. Bear in mind that these are different from Strongyles.
