Who's He Trying To Scare?

OneTwoManyHerps Jan 04, 2004 02:38 PM

I just placed my somewhat new large rescue ig in a larger enclosure than the one he was in. HE LOVES IT and is very spoiled since I like and choose to feed him by hand so that he'll get used to me. Anyways for the past two days he will lick his log tatste the air and then start headbobbing. I've seen him do it three times already and after everytime he goes to his basking spot and quickly tucks his feet back and regains normal tempermant. I think its funny because I just sit there and whatch him think he's so big. Thanks To Everyone Who Posts

Iguanas dont head bob only when they are angry. It is their form of communication.

I would bet that they were long slow bobs... This is a bob of greeting or you could perhaps say contentment. It is a sign they are comfortable.

Do you know where I could find a list of the different head bob types & what they mean? Before breeding season struck, Porfi would be sitting on his heat pad & give me that slow, "hey, come over & pet me" bob. Now he gives the vibrating head bob & the rapid paced head bob while he circles me or tries to chase me off "His" couch. Those are pretty much the only 3 bobs I have noticed him do, are there more??

Melissa Kaplans site has some good descriptions of this. I think it is under either behavior or sexuality.
