Bearded Dragon - aggressive or mating??

SeaTuon Jan 04, 2004 02:59 PM

I have noticed some unusual behaviour of my bearded dragons as of late. One of bigger than the other and has caused no problems til' the last couple of days. He is bobbing, black beard, Grabs a hold of the little guys side of the head and holds on. Is this what I think he is trying to do? Or is he hurting the little guy. I can seperate them if need be.

Yes, please separate the dragons NOW!!!! I'm guessing these beardies are pretty young since they've been getting along up until now. In that case the female is waaaaay too young to get gravid. If it's not mating behaviour, it could easily end in bloodshed. Either way, this aggresion is bad news.

Separate the beardies ASAP, and keep them separated. Beardies do best on their own once they get past the hatchling/baby age. A male and a female should not be housed together because of the mating issue. Two males will fight, and two females can do the same thing, although some will manage to live together in peace and harmony.
