My corns do this all the time. My male ghost will grab the middle then eat rear first a lot of the times. My female amel usually goes head first.

mine does this all the time as well. actually last night when i came home from the east coast (for 2 weeks), the first thing i did was feed my corn, and he immediately attacked it from the side and then lifted it up as high as he could go as if to say 'WOOO HOOO!' because he hadn't been fed in 15 days. then he fell over. my girlfriend and i had a good laugh out of it. i think my corn is growing one hell of a personality. heh.

My 3 do the same thing & always have - I think they're just shooting for the biggest part of the target to cut down the risk of missing. Also, since I feed only f/t rodents, there's no risk of the snakes getting bit, so they don't have to grab them by the head.
