Okay, I have had an adult male dragon for about 2 years now and I finialy got him a girly friend two weeks ago from the local pet store. They told me to their knowledge she had yet to been bred and would be ready to go for my male. Well I knew they would edventualy bred but I figured I would have time to read up on dragon breading and be prepared but when i returned home from the weekend holidays tonight I noticed in their cage a huge pile of bedding in the back left corner and the female desperatly trying to make a pile. I had a gut feeling she had just laid eggs and i slowly leveled the bedding back down and found 16 eggs. i have since gently removed the eggs and set them in a spare 55 gal tank with bedding i just threw in there to keep them covered and placed the famale in there just incase she wasn't done. it's 6:30pm on a sunday. what do i do next?... wal mart is still open with a garden section, i know theres a certain bedding these eggs should be in and need heat in the upper 80's. Can someone please help me out, this is a good forum and i think i can get the info i need alot faster then trying to filter through web sites. thanks in advanced.

If you only got her 2 weeks ago, they are probably not from your male! I guess you did not qurantine her either eh?

Anyway, that is besides the point now.....

They need to be incubated at 83 - 84 degrees. I use a mixture of perlite and vermiculite. Humidity in the incubator needs to be high... 90 or higher. It will take approx 60 + days for them to hatch. Do not turn the eggs or you may well kill them.

If they are good eggs, they will stay white and have a leather like texture to them. You can usually tell bad eggs within a couple days. They will sink, turn a yellow / brown color and may start to mold.

Picture of hatching eggs, but they are a good example of what a good egg looks like
