Moved my yearling Yellow Rat up to fuzzy mice ( and a question regarding tank size)

I kind of figured it was time to move Mufasa up to fuzzies. At first he didn't seem to be to interested then he began to move his head and flick his tongue all over the mouse. He moved around to the head and ate the fuzzy with no problems what so ever. He was eatting 3 pinkies per feeding and eatting them like they were nothing. Good thing he can handle a fuzzy as feeding him 3 pinkies twice a week was making my pockets have lint instead of cash haha j/k .I am also thinking about moving him over to a 20 Gallon Tank this week.Should I get a 20 High or a 20 Long? His total length is I would say is 18 inches give or take an inch. I am leaning toward the 20 Long until he gets around 3 1/2 to 4 feet long then will give him a a larger tank most likely a 30-50 gallon.

Yep, moving up in size can take snakes a little adjustment, but once they're started... As for your tank size, while yellow rats will climb more than most American Elaphae, I'd opt for the 20 long. More room to stretch out, which is all you can really provide in captivity. But if you have any handiness at carpentry, why not make something permanent, instead of buying something you know you'll be keeping African cichlids in in a year and then buying yet another heavy glass enclosure? There are also many plastic, acrylic, mesh, or wooden snake cages on the market these days that are lighter and much more "workable" than a heavy glass tank. Just my 2 cents...

I would go for the 20 long. You don't need as much height. A long has more floor area which is better.
