What monitor is the easiest to tame and has the best personality.
Hey,
With my expierience I think savannas, whites/black throats, dumerils and ackies monitors turn out to be some of the nicest monitors. Also cb water have amzing personalities and are usually quite tame, but grow quite large. Cb black rough neck , Cb peach throats and cb blue tails have amazing personalities but arent as tame as the other monitors.

I agree with SHvar, and I also think that it has to do with husbandry and handling once you obtain your monitor.
I would have to agree Savannahs and Ackies are very tame. My favorite monitor will always be Dumeril's Monitors. I have owned two and handled alot more and never once even got a head jerk. A funny little story about one of my Dumeril's is when I took him to the vet, rather then put him through the trauma of a bag or a box I wore a hockey jersey inwhich he slept very comfortable until we got to see the dr. They do require alittle more space but well worth the investment.
Thanks

Every monitor has its own personality. CBB are by far the best because theyve never seen the wild and dont miss what they never had, like WC, CH, etc.
Yes, they all have their own personalities, but you cannot tell me that if you raise 100 Waters and 100 Niles that you will get an equal number of confident, tractable, trustworthy animals CBB or not. Starting with a species that has a reputation for being laid back and responsive (in a positive way) gives you a much higher chance of ending up with that "dog tame" lap lizard in a year or two. Along that line of thought, some species that have that laid back reputation are Savs, BT's, WT's, Waters, Ackies, BRN's and Dum's.

Actually 100 of any species outside of ackies that are CBB, since they are a rarity, unless your Frank Retes I doubt youd find enough to compare. Ive seen a few rare CBB waters, and no CBB niles (except Nessies Moms babies), and yes WC theres a difference in how handleable the 2 species are but Ive seen some waters that were just as wild and flighty as any nile. On average Id say waters are better as a pet than a nile. Try convincing Nessies Mom that niles are not as good of pets though, they had several niles that were family pets.
Ive had a few niles and I wouldnt want another, but thats personal choice.
Ive also had bosc and Albigs that werent handeable at all, they all have their own individual personality that makes them completely different than any others.
Again, you said species had nothing to do with it and I said species has alot to do with the personality of any given monitor. Of course personalities will vary and I can personally tell you I have had two Niles and seen several others that were very handleable, but still not nearly as trustworthy as my Waters or my very first Savannah. I hand picked those Niles for their initially calm demeaners and worked with them extensively to create a good bond. But the fact remains that on average, Niles are moody if not downright defensive or aggressive while other species, on average, are much more trustworthy. It's like pythons, African Rocks, Scrubs and Retics will always tend to be a little more on the unpredictable side, ON AVERAGE, cbb or not. They are just hard-wired that way. Any beginner with monitors will have a much better chance of getting a good, tractable, trustworthy pet monitor by starting with a species that has a reputation as being a good PET species. Billy

Ackies! Ackies! and more Ackies! My water monitors are great but they get so big. Did I mention Ackies? Have a good 'un!
