columbian red tail enclosure

throatoyster Jan 04, 2004 08:23 PM

A friend just gave me his young columbian red tail (it was too nippy for him). i've kept a lot of snakes, but never a boa, so i don't know the best set up for the cage. i read on the internet that i should set it up like a desert habitat. that didn't sound right to me, so i'm asking for any advice. right now i'm using aspin substrate, but i really liked the idea of having sand... could that work? any opinions or advice would be great, thanks!

oh yeah, the snake is about 3 to 3 and a half feet... i don't know if that makes a difference (are they arborial when small?)
