Hey burm, the week of xmas I ordered from them. I placed my order on sunday so it would be shipped monday, it was set to arrive on tuesday. Well fedex screwed up and the package didn't get here until wednesday at about 4pm. So that was over 48 hours in route. I fully expected all the crickets to be dead. Well I opened up the box, and not a single cricket was dead. Not only were there no dead crickets but they were all lively and not motionless. I was very impressed. I would say that next day is the best method, but obviously second day is feasible with their well packed boxes.

Certain weeks, they guarantee live delivery w/2-day priority shipping. If you ask them when you call, they'll tell you when 2-day is available and not (according to the weather). During colder weeks, they only ship overnight and I've never had a problem. Overnight shipping is pretty expensive (around $20).
It's cold here too, I live in CT. I order from Superworm farm. I just don't choose Priority Mail during winter months, because they automatically put a "call and hold" on the package, and the post office does not always call. I always go 2nd day air in the winter. I just placed an order w/ www.expresscrickets.com, and with overnight shipping, 1000 crickets was I think $23 all together. I definately need them by tomorrow, so that is the way I went.
