Twitching tail. Really worried.

gex53 Jan 04, 2004 10:22 PM

I checked on my gecko tonight, she's been extremely skittish since i've had her but she was doing better. Looked in and her tail was twitching. It appears as if its uncontrolled. Its been doing it an hour now and she's not moving much at all. I'm really worried about her. Nothing happened that i know of. Has this happened to anyone else? What should i do??

Maybe it's like when you're sitting down restlessly and your leg starts twitching? I don't think I'd worry about. Have you tried picking her up and seeing if she stops?

Well, she dropped it I have no idea why. She is very skittish and maybe she thought something was happening to her at some point. I think she's a sub-adult. 7 inches long. Never was really clear on age when i bought her from the petstore. She seems fine otherwise. Eating mealworms now and everything. I never really handled her all that much. The last time i handled her was at least a week ago. How long will it take the tail to regenerate?? Because right now it looks all bloody. Looks painful to tell you the truth. I'll continue to moniter her close until i can get her to the vet. Should i start feeding her extra? Is there anything else i need to do?
Your help is appreciated. Thanks

Try putting some neosporin (sp?) on it, and keep her VERY clean. I've never had a gecko drop it's tail. One of my fat-tails was bought with a stub, but I've never lost one myself. In fact, one of my little cousins picked up my tamest male by the tail, literally hanging by the tail. Didn't lose it. Weird.
