What would be best to seal wooden dowels for snake perches? n/p

I've always used unsealed dowels & tossed em if they get too nasty - I'd rather seal them & just clean them.
Thanks!

Rub orange oil and then put bees wax on them to seal and water proof.

Thats interesting, I hadn't considered something like that. Is that easy to clean up? I would think it would make a tacky surface that pythons might not like. Have you used this as well as a harder surface - like a sealant?
Thanks for the response,

Try this, make the perches out of pvc pipes, if you torch them slightly and bend them a little they look like wood. Easy to clean and easy and looks good. I have a web site telling you how, I will post it later.
