Hi guys, thanks for all of the help and suggestions so far!! I was recently cleaning out some bushes near my house (I live in south Louisiana) and I found this large piece of what looks like driftwood. My mom told me she had been using it as a planter, but I could put it in my turtle's tank if i wanted to. But it's fallen into disuse, and it is a little less than clean. It's been out in the rain, and now it is full of snails and mud and other nasty gunk. Any suggestions on how to clean it? Or should I just scrap the idea and not put it into the tank with my turtle?

wash it realy well with water (no soap or chemiclas) and then wrap it in aluminum foil and stick it in the oven...preheated to about 300 degrees
leave it in there for about an hour
this will kill any parasites or bugs and should be cool enough not to burn the wood.
