I have a columbian red tail and I was looking to breed here with my other columbian or my central american (wanted to see what it will look like). I was wondering what is a safe age and or length to start the proccess.

for boa constrictors they usually wont become furtile before 18 months of age (though exceptions have been seen). A minimum safe length for male boas to breed is around 4' whereas females are best grown to at least 6 1/2 or 7 ' for this purpose. They should be of a proportionally appropriate weight too,not too skinny, especially the females. Of course you don't want to try to breed a 4' male to a 12' female...she might crush the poor little guy! cooling them separately before breeding(8-12 weeks at 70-75 degrees at night with a daytime increase to 75-80)will help develop germ cells and induce breeding behavior.good luck!
