I read a couple posts below and you said that you chose a tegu over a Dumerils monitor. What made you decide? I am in the same predicament. I really like the dums... but the tegus are really cool too. I honestly want a lap lizard that I could take to schools and literally hang out with. With the dums though, I love the way they look. They need about the same size cage right?(excluding vertical space) Like 8ft long and 4ft wide? I actually wanted to let it have room of its own, but now I do not have that ability.
