Venomoid Forum

dfr Jan 05, 2004 01:48 PM

` Why are so many people voting against a venomoid forum? Do they think that because they're against it, it should be suppressed? It doesn't seem to me that it would compete with any other forums already running.
` I am not sure if I like the idea of surgically altered animals. On the other hand, my dogs and cats are surgically altered.
` I do know that I would like to learn more about it. A venomoid forum would be a good place to do that.
` What is it about some people that makes them want to eliminate anything that they don't agree with?
`
` There certainly are some towering egos, out there.
`
` If you think education is expensive, consider the cost of ignorance!

It's definetely an interesting issue. I did a quick search for some info to share and came up with the following for anyone interested:

1.0 Ball Python "Aragorn"

I guess I missed something. Was this up for discussion or vote?

It is interesting that there would be a significant number of people who don't want the forum... at all. You would think that a "venomoid forum" would give the anti-venomoids a platform to "educate" those who aren't against owning a venomoid. It's not just a venomoid forum ONLY for those who have or agree with venomoids... Right? This confuses me.

I don't know if there is a voting thing somewhere on this site... but I would be all for a venomoid forum. Who knows; maybe people on BOTH sides of the issue would learn something.

Scary thought.

I agree. Personally I don't know what I think about it, but would appreciate a forum that would allow me the opportunity to learn more so that I can make my own decision as to my feelings on the issue.

` Thank you for digging that up. I will use it on the Open Discussion Forum, where we are getting down. Rich

` So go vote, dammit! On the main Reptiles and Amphibians forum page, right side, scroll down. Just under "Hot Topics". The ANTI people are going to have their way, if you don't. Spread the word!

Thanks dfr, I didn't see that there.

When I voted there were 331 "yes" votes. There were more "no" votes... but it seems like "331" yes votes should be enough to justify the addition of a venomoid forum. Do you know if it is a majority decision thing, or are the kingsnake folk just trying to get a feel of the pro versus con popularity prior to making the decision. I hope its the latter.

` I don't know what their plans are. It certainly does provide the opportunity for more folks to be kicked off the forums. It's too bad that some folks can't argue without getting mean. I think that it's much harder to object to another's opinion without getting nasty. It makes you think harder.
` But, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
