Catfish with baby RES???

owen13 Jan 05, 2004 04:43 PM

I have 2 baby RES in a 10 gallon aquarium and wanted to know if I can get a small catfish to go with them and live on the bottom. Does anybody have fish living with their RES. What are their living requirements.

Thanks
Owen

I was considering getting a catfish too, but I read that a lot of the common catfish get pretty big. If you do get one, make sure you have a tank big enough to keep it. I heard that Raphael catfish are pretty small, around 5-7 inches. Also, I've had two hatchlings for a few months now and they already outgrew their 10 gallon tank. I would recommend at least a 20 gallon tank, especially if you're going to add the catfish.

Here's a link for info. on catfish:

Also, I read a few horror stories of aggressive catfish that latch on to the turtles and cause some major damage. Be careful.
