The fact that the gecko was healthy and strong enough to pip the egg tells me that it had nothing to do with it being a weak baby or a runt or anything to that effect. In fact, it was the exact same size as it's clutchmate, who made it out just fine. From what I could tell, it's tail looked to be getting in the way of the holes that it had cut in the egg.

I've heard that this is a fairly common problem, so I wanted to know if anyone opens the egg up once the gecko has pipped, in order to make it easier for the gecko to emerge.

I know of several Python breeders that do this, but wasn't sure if there would be any serious problems if I were to try this with Cresteds.
