One of my favorite girls.....

idealreptiles Jan 05, 2004 06:54 PM

Doing some cleaning and had to take a pic. She is awesome, and reminds me of a mohave or cinnamon pastel. Let me know what you think of her. Pics do her no justice. She is also very aggressive and will strike at me through her container when walking by. So far I have never been bit, but she is very quick and shows no sighn of taming down, but she eats great and has tripled her size in just a couple months.

She kind of remonds me of one of my girls.

Mine has no blushing on her back. Instead, she has very yellow dorsal striping surrounded by a very nice contrasting pure black, that fades down her sides in to very white blushing. Her belly is pure white and the white creaps up her sides and around her side patterns quite nicely. I should take some side picks, but you can sort of see it. A very nice normal and well worth the $35 Brian of BHB charged me for her and 9 other CB Ball python females. A few were CH, but most were from Co-dom. breedings, and she looks so nice, I figure she had some nice parents. They all look and eat great! I plan to breed a pastel to her next season........ But my poss. Het. genetic stripes might be another option. Need to increase my chances for those stripers!

Do you know for sure if yours is one of the captive bred ones or anything about what it parents looked like?

I have no clue, but she is very uniqe and has to be seen in person to really appreciate. I wish she was a bit tamer, but she eats very well so a mean ball python that eats great is better then a a tame non-eater.

Reminds me of this girl I picked up at a pet store in 2001. She is also a great eater but hasn't tried to bite me yet but lately I could see a feeding bite coming. I finally cut her off food a few weeks ago as I'm worried she is too fat (will have to use the vet's scale to check but I think she is closing in on 4,000 grams). She watches me like a burm waiting for a rat every time I go by the cage. I'm working out getting her to a similar looking male on loan this year after striking out two years in a row with an apparently unmotivated 66% chance het caramel.

Awesome looking Randy. I am picking up a male this weekend at the White Plains show that looks very similar too. Maybe I'll get lucky this season with the two. Could be some sort of visible het???

Here is a pic of the male. I have'nt seen him in person yet but the photo looks good! Let me know if your interested in breeding yours. Who knows, we may get a platty or something out of it!

I've already got a mate lined up for her this year as soon as I can manage to get her there. I'd just be happy to get babies from her but if some look like her that would be great and of course the super sweetness would be if these are hets for an interesting co-dominant. Got to try just in case but not to get too excited about it as it’s probably not very likely.

Both my female and my male to be are C.B. They look a lot like Ralph's phantom balls and we all know what came out of one of those! It's a worthwhile project and worth "dinking" around with. Who knows what may come of it. The person I got my female from had her from a baby and said she looked just like a mohave. I don't have any baby pictures though! Good luck on your project.

Is that Ball Green? or is it just the lighting?

BillLubak Jan 06, 2004 07:30 PM

I'm not sure which one you are talking about but the female I posted a pic of is a pale green normally. The pic I posted wa taken outside last summer. She is much lighter than the pic shows with a white belly, almost ghost like.

RandyRemington Jan 09, 2004 12:04 AM

I wouldn't say she is green but then again the pictures of the "green ghosts" I've seen don't really look green to me either. She is an odd colored animal with lots of dark due to the wide pattern areas and she also has an iridescence to her.
