Attacking his reflection..

uvlights Feb 09, 2003 09:21 AM

My male seems to be fighting his reflection in the glass. He charges across the tank and butts up against the glass then goes into a furious head bob. Does anyone else have this problem? I dont want him to get hurt or stressed out. Thanks!

This is one reason not to use aquariums for lizard enclosures. I've had lizards be dominated by their own reflections. They attack, it attacks, they bob, it bobs. They never can chase it off. It can stress them terribly.

Just my 2 cents.

What kind of enclosure would you recommend? If I dont get a new cage can anyone suggest something I could apply to the outside to kill the reflection? Thanks.

Im not sure but maybe..Do you have a backround to the tank like the poster things..maybe if you put one of those it will kill the reflection.. .. does he attack the front of the tank? if so then im not really sure...maybe get something to block some of the sunlight getting to the tank.. just some ideas..
