How many people feed their leo's Superworms?

calgecko Jan 05, 2004 07:45 PM

I just got some superworms from Petsmart today... they're big.. about 2 to 2.25" long each... when I put one in my girls' cage, they didn't seem moderately interested, and they should be hungry,.. it's been a couple days since they've eaten. Are these too big for leopard geckos? My girls are full grown adults, about 2 years old, and 60g each...

I feed my leos superworms. The worms seem big but my leos always get them down no problem. I figure if they can eat pinkies why not something skinnier and a little longer? Mine only eat about 3 every couple of days though. Your leos just might not be hungry. They also may think the superworm is too big for them, but that's probably not the case. I would try again in a couple of days. If it doesnt work then, you might just wanna switch back to your regular food or try to get some smaller supers. Hope this helped,
Josh

Superworms are not too big for a grown leo. However there are certain leos that just won't take to certain food items. I think it helps if you offer some variety from an early age, so they get used to trying differenrt things.

What I do is dangle it about 3 inches in front of their heads, if your to close they tend not to see it, after they look at it, drop it and it will move, if they are hungry they will eat it.

Mine are kind of picky about them & sometimes won't eat them if mealies are readily available. I do have one gecko that eats them almost exclusively. That one eats 2-3 supers, once or twice a week. She also only poops once or twice a week!
