So here's a pretty picture of my Gulf Coast Toad, Edmond.

So here's a pretty picture of my Gulf Coast Toad, Edmond.

personally I think this will just confuse people even more. I would just have one forum for all frogs/toads. this just means I have one more forum to have to check. this doesn't even count the caging and health forums which should not exist either. one stop shopping is much more user friendly.
...I have a 'thing' about toad/frog confusion. Frogs are culturally ubiquitous, toads seem overlooked to me.
Mostly it was just an excuse to post a photo of Edmond
hey I love the pic of your Gulf Coast. Its great to see it. I had two of them and by far they have been my favorite toads. But then again I have only kept two different kinds of toads at the time soooooo it was not a big or hard decision to choose weather or not they were my favorite. I think they are super cute when they lay down like a dog or cat do. Tuck there little tiny arms underneither there bodies and sleep. Mine did that for the longest time and did not burrow until after a whyle of having them. I just got two Europeans toads (well I think that is what they are) and I am hopen that there colors come out as I have seen in adult europeans. But so far I love the Gulf Coast toads the best and it stinks that I could not get more because the place I baught them at stopped getting them in due to the season :::
I just thaught it was really cool how they lay down instead of burrowing have the time like most toads do.
sorry that was my point of this reply and it sorta got lengthy::LMAO

I think this only adds to the toad / frog confusion, it supports that somehow toads are not frogs. In fact, the field of Herpetology does not recognize the "toad" common name and many scientists simply refer to all anurans as frogs.
Besides, it's not like the frog forums were moving so fast that it was burying recent posts, this only adds to the work of regulars to check twice as many forums.

I just wonder why there are some froglike toads, like the fully aquatic Surinam toad, that are called "toads." This animal looks kinda like an african claw frog that a house fell onto, but still cute.. but it's a toad? It isn't part of the genus Bufo, so why is it called a toad? So now if someone has a question about a surinam toad, do they post it on the toad board, which is for posts about chubby, warty little guys who almost never touch water, or the aquatic frog forum, where they may find some info that is truly useful, OR the frog forum, for all frog posts? Yipes! I think there should be one frog forum for all anurans. Just my $0.02.
Suriname toads are called toads, because thats what the pet trade named them, because they have rough skin. They are 'pipa pipa'. You can name any frog a toad basically, because they are all frogs. I have heard african clawed frog and african clawed toad. The aquatic ones seeem to stump us. Good thought though.

Monkey Frogs are the Best.
I think you hit the nail on the head with that one. It perfectly exemplifies the confusion associated with common names, AND dividing forums using those subjective names! The Pet Hobbyist staff have had their hands full with this new version and have been attacked from all angles because of these changes, perhaps we should wait a month and then make our case?

I haven't been coming here much since Kingsnake made the changes. I am not happy with the new forums and how they have divided Frogs and Toads.
With the confusion of common names and the limbo most so called "toads" that are outside of Bufo are left hanging, it is just too darn annoying.
Please, please get toads and frogs forums merged!
