I have two three year old cb death adders and both probe only 2-3 sub-caudal scales. I guess females but would like some support! Thanks in advance for you help!

1/ You are right.
2/ Males are also easily sexed as adults by the fact that their tails are much larger and thicker.
3/ The same applies for most if not all other Australian elapids.
4/ Good photos showing tails of both sexes are in my book "Australian Reptiles and Frogs".
