Does anyone know.............

RedQuake Jan 06, 2004 10:33 AM

.......if there are plastic racks out there? I was looking for something light weight as opposed to me building a rack out of wood.

Also, besides flexwatt heat tape is there any other way to heat a rack? Does anyone use something different? Just curious on this question

Thanks,
Red

Boaphiles- Jeff Ronne, has arguably, the best plastic racks out there. Animal Plastics seem to be an up and comer - plus they are more inexpensive. I know that Steve from E2macpets deals in animal plastics. I JUST did a purchase through him last night - chatted with him via aol for awhile - and seems like a nice guy who really wants to build up his business. He might be a guy to check out.

There few other guys out there - but Boaphiles and Animal plastics look like very sturdy - light weight alternatives to wood.

Hope this helps

Thankyou thats great. I've been sitting here thinking about it and i'm wondering......are there racks that come with the heat tape already installed so all i have to do is plug it in?

I figure that if i'm going to be buying from the U.S. anyways i might as well go all out. I can't find heat tape up here in Canada so it'll be worth the money to get the whole package at once.

At the moment i'm all bumbed out and sick to boot so i'm really not up to doing anything myself lol. Maybe once/if things get a bit better i'll be more up to building something but for now i just want to price out stuff i can buy, set up and get working with little or no effort on my part.

Thanks again for your input

they all come with heat tape built in if you want. It's a very cool deal. Plus, on most of them, you can ask for back or belly heat - although I like stuff heated from the back better.

One innovation I like is the use of heat cable - and I THINk Animal plastics uses that, but don't quote me on it.

Anyway - have fun - and let us know what you think of your racks . . .

Thats wonderful, puts my mind at ease a bit now. I'll check out the people you suggested. It'll still be a while until i buy anything or have the need for it.....i'm not going to breed my geckos this year. My health is going downhill and being part time, even though i work full time hours, is just not providing me enough income to support myself and anymore animals. I've worked so much over the last month that i've spent more time there than at home so i haven't had time to spend with my family or my animals (i work every weekend plus most of the week with only a day or two off here and there). Frankly it isn't worth it anymore.

I will be doing everything i can to find myself a decent job so i can eventually breed my guys. Dot is just amazing and i'd like to see what she'd produce.

Thanks again,

Red

His web site is www.wantapet.com. I had a hard time finding it. I found out he is actually two hours away from me. I plan on picking one up next month. Tax return time!!!

You can never have just one gecko. Actually it is almost impossible to have two

Hey guys.

I got an email the other day from Jeff Ronne (Boaphile) and seems he's working on some knock-down plastic racks also. They sound like they may be like the Animal Plastics line of racks. They are supposed to be cheaper than his current racks as well. Since Red has a little time, maybe there'll be a couple choices for that style. I said it in an earlier post - competition can only be good for us, the consumers.
