Not drinking?

Kowboy Jun 04, 2003 08:03 PM

Hello, I have 2 bearded dragons about a month or so old. I have a water dish in the aquarium with them, but never see them drink on their own. If i drip water from my finger to their mouth, they both drink. How much should they drink? How often? Should I be concerned?

Thanks!!!

Some beardies won't drink from a water dish...

I would drip or mist a little water onto their noses or try soaking them in shoulder-deep, luke-warm water so they can drink

Is this the long term solution? Will they ever drink from the dish?

Yes seems to be the only way mine will drink also. I have raised 6 dragons they never got the hang of drinking from a dish. Dripping it on the nose seems to work good along with the soaks and water sprayed on their greens seems to be all they need to thrive.

I have never seen my beardie drink from a water dish either, and he is almost 3 years old. When he was younger I used to mist him and he'd lick up the drops that formed on his nose and on his log. I also gave him baths, and he would occasionally drink. But he stopped doing that when he was about 1 year old. I suppose he gets all the moisture he needs from greens.
