Cold Weather Question

el_toro Jan 06, 2004 01:02 PM

We're having some rather nasty weather here in the Pacific NW, USA, and I'm suddenly concerned. Many people here lost power for several days and the temps are in the 20s. I don't know what I would do to keep the kids warm if we lost power. Has anyone dealt with this or have something on hand in case of a power outage?

Look at an "APC"unit. They are commonly used for computer systems as the "Back-up" power source. They'll work! (TX. thunder storms!)Try your local computer place.

Torey~

The only thing I can think of, besides building a fire in the fireplace, is having a gas powered generator on hand in case of a power outage. I know what you mean by nasty weather. I haven't seen it this bad in Oregon in years! I pray you don't lose power. We have a fireplace and wood to burn if we have a power outage. Also, they have those 24 hour heating packets that people use to ship their animals with. They stay warm for several hours. I think GI Joes and Walmart sells them. You could always have a few of those on hand if things got bad. If you guys lose power in W.Salem please call me and we'd be happy to help anyway we can. We're only 20 minutes away. Good luck sweetie. This is a nasty storm.

For reference I like to leave the window open to help winter my uros, and the apartment once got down to 42 degrees inside, and they were fine.
