No. IMHO I would say if you want to go with a tank go with a 40 or 50 gal Breeder.....not a 55 but a breeder tank that has a wider 'foot print'.
I wouldn't get a big tank for a baby though. I would start small and work up for the security feeling of the baby.

Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with the software.

about what are the dimensions of the 40/50 gal breeders?

Tigergenesis Jan 06, 2004 08:16 PM

40 gallon breeder = 36lx18wx16h
50 gallon breeder = 36lx18wx19h

I use a 50 gallon breeder. Be aware of the potential problems with holding proper temps and humidity in a tank. it's doable but may require some extra work, patience & possibly a little extra cash - but worth it to me. I really like having a display tank. This size is fine for young BPs as long as you have plenty of hides. I put my little guy in a 50 gallon when I brought him home at 2 months of age. I gave him 4 hides (2 on the warm side, 1 in the middle and 1 on the cool side) to choose from (and of course a water bowl) and branches for climbing.

Thanks for posting that...I was off to measure mine.

Another problem I have had with mine is that when I separated the pair after breeding season the male was all too able to pop the screen out and rejoin the girl. I laid plexi on the tops to retain humidity but had to weight it down to keep him in after that. He is a big boy......4.5' and 5# but still.

Mine is one that slides into grooves on the front of the tank all the way to the back where a piece of the screen fits through a little hole - the piece that fits through the tank has a hole in it for a padlock.

Do you have this kind? Because I've been wondering how secure this is for when my BP gets bigger/older (acutally I plan to move my BP into a Boaphile and put a corn in this tank).

Nice vivarium, say, I have a simular setup. I keep a corn in the one shown below (Critter Cage 40 gallon breeder). During the winter, when it's dry, I keep one of the larger water dishes on the hot side, that helps keep a bit more humidity in the enclosure.
I also spray the enclosure when the humidity gets low and during sheds. Anyway.... my question is, I really like your background I've looked around at local pet stores but all the backgrounds I can find are for aquariums. I really don't want my corn to think he's swimming all the time. I was wondering if you knew where I could order a simular vivarium background online or were you able to get it from a major pet store such as Petco or Petland?
Thanks

Hey, I recognize some of that deco! I paln to actually move my BP out of a tank into a Boaphile cage and put a corn in the tank - since their humidity requirements are easier.

The background I have is an aquarium background. The bottom part of the picture actually shows aquarium gravel - but my deco covers it. You have to look closely at those backgrounds - they usually have 2 designs (one on the front and one on the back). I got mine from a petstore in my town called "Specks" (I think that's how it's spelled). They might just be local, but I think I've seen it at PetSmart and other stores. I tried to find some online, but couldn't find the exact same one I have.
