Eye rubbing...

veronicag Jan 06, 2004 02:27 PM

My female Saharan Uro (Maya) has started rubbing her eyes a lot. She doesn't appear to be shedding around her eyes at all so I'm concerned about her. One morning she has some crusty stuff around her eye and has a little trouble getting her eye opened all the way. But after that her eye has looked normal. Now she's just rubbing her eye on anything she can as if she was shedding. Any ideas? Is this a common sign of an eye infection? If it wasn't snowing and sleeting outside I would get her to the vet, but I might have to wait until tomorrow. Thanks for any advice offered.

She may be wiping the crust off that builds up on her nose or rubbing her eye due to dust.
