Fat-tails come from a different region (Africa) than leos do. AFTs also require more humidity. I can’t see your picture so I don’t know. Here's some of my AFTs.

Those two are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

I've always loved the striped AFT's. Haven't been able to find anyone with any in stock though up my way. Do they do alright in a 10 or 15 gallon tank? One day i'll add one to my collection of geckos hehehe.

Again nice geckos

Leopard geckos and African fat-tails are two different genus and species. They both belong to the same family (Family Eublepharidae), so that makes them cousins of sorts. The Eublepharidae family are called the eye-lid geckos, so other geckos that fall into this classification are North American Banded gecko species, Central American Banded geckos, and the Gonisaurus species to name a few.

Leopard geckos are found in Afganistan, India and Pakistan. African Fat-tails are found in...well...africa, . Ok they are found in West Africa from Nigeria to Senegal. Care for these geckos is similiar but African Fat-tails require more humidity than leopard geckos. African Fat-tails are colored with more brown and tan than leopards.

leos have a white stripe right under their neck that fat tails dont

AgentOfLillith Jan 06, 2004 10:10 PM

Leo's are cuter, fat tails look sorta toad-faced and I think most of them are WC. Ah well, that's how distinguish them.
