The term "real albino" is funny. Amelanism is amelanism is amelanism, whether the snake is pure, cross, hybrid, whatever.
Amelanism popped up in ruthveni that were descendents of animals captured from Mexico during a study done there. The albinos are pure ruthveni.
I believe amelanism popped up in nelsoni by surprise in private collections. The nelsoni bloodline back then probably originated from a limited number of imported animals, so if any were het, it was only a matter of time before amelanism showed itself.
Amelanism in campbelli and sinaloae are most likely due to a breeding at some point with ruthveni or more likely nelsoni. For sure, sinaloans were bred with nelsoni, since they are so similar in form and function, and they freely breed with each other, even their timing is the same. Pueblans were bred with both ruthveni and nelsoni. The Puebs bred with nelsoni are larger at hatching and eat better on average as babies.
Amelanism in Hondurans originated from either pure Hondurans or from polyzona. But then again, ever see a polyzona? Looks alot like hondurensis from close to polyzona range. I say who cares really. You aren't going to find a snow Hondo in the wild, so it is really a mute point to worry about whether or not it was a polyzona or hondurensis way back then that started the whole thing.
Thanks Mark, this is the answer I was looking for.
(I know "real albino" is funny, but since english is not the language I usually speek I don't know how to explain it in other words).
Thanks again.
I couldn't tell English was not your first language because the grammar and spelling in your post was done so well!
