shedding help

cs Jan 06, 2004 06:15 PM

My leo just shed, but there is still some bits of skin on her nose and on her toes. She has a humid hide, but it doesnt seem to be helping her to get these bits off. I've tried gently rubbing them off with a q-tip, but she always gets scared and runs away. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Soak her in belly high luke warm water for 15 mins,That should help the skin come off.

What I do is take a plastic Ziploc container that's had some holes cut in the lid. I do four holes: one in each corner that's big enough for them to stick the tip of their nose through. Line the bottom with folded paper towels, and then fill it up with just enough warm water to reach the belly. Then put your leo in and let her soak for 5-10 minutes, longer if the skin has been there for more than a week or so. The humidity will soften the skin even in the face area, so you should be able to pull it off using just your fingers. To get the skin off the toes, roll it off with your fingers. This works better than using tweezers or q-tips.

You should be careful around the toes. Use a q-tip instead of fingers.
