pocketfulloffire Jan 06, 2004 07:15 PM

Hello! Can I use this tile for substrate In my tank cant afford to buy expensive substrate so I have to use something cheap.

This tile Is very very smooth will be cleaned before put in never had any chemicals or anything It will only cover half the tank and If you have any suggestions for the other half please post It.

Clean, unglazed terra cotta tile is fine. If it is glazed or too smooth your geckos will slip all over it and it will stress them out or possibly cause them to have accidents or not get enough excercise.

Sometimes, you can use the back (unglazed) side of glazed terra tile- just put the rough side up.

Paper towls are cheap. I just bought 2 slate tiles for my 20 gallon tank, they were about $4 each- I bought the fancy ones but it was still under $10 the pair.

If cost is an issue right now paper towels are a cheap, safe substrate you can use indefinately, or till you can afford something more naturalistic that is safe.

Another with full 20 long shown with tile. Humid hide is under the half-log to give privacy and shade from the light.
