Will a 9 year old ACF breed?

EricIvins Jan 06, 2004 07:24 PM

I have a albino male ACF that I've had for 9 years now. Lately I've been thinking of getting a Albino Female and trying to get tads from them. Has anyone tried to breed a male this old? I know other reptiles can breed late in their life time, I'm just wondering if he will? He still croaks every now and then so can I assume he still wants to breed? Also, he seems to be blind in one eye. He's been like this for maybe a year and a half. Are there many Genetic problems in ACFs that were bred in captivity? Or is it even a genetic problem ( I was thinking old age )?

Hi,

Yes, your old male ACF will be able to breed, the blindness in one eye sounds like old age, but there are lots of genetic problems with ACF's in the pet trade - especially albino's as they were decended from only a few.

Chris.
