New BRBs and I need some tips...

ru4pythons Jun 04, 2003 08:45 PM

I have a nice collection of pythons and I wanted to get a pair of rainbows, well, cause they are beautiful snakes. The male my wife bought for my birthday is awesome, he is the little one. But the big female, who is in shed, seems a bit lethargic. I was hoping all was well, and before I took a trip to the vet...I thought I would check out the forum and see if anyone else has had any experience with this type of behavior.

I placed her in her enclosure and she has been in that same posiiton for nearly an hour...normally no big deal, but the position she is in is kind of awkward. I mean, I would have a sore neck! Granted I'm no boa, but it still looks pretty darned uncomfortable.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thx,

ru4pythons,
. Adult BRBs will sometimes lay in strange positions but the ways yours look has me worried. First thing I would do is make sure she is kept totally quarantined away from all your other boids. If you put her on a flat floor and let her crawl does she crawl normally? If not you may have a problem. She looks like she could be a little dehydrated. See if soaking her in warm water for a couple hours gets her acting more natural.
