wow. It is really cold in Iowa. About 5 degrees out there. Well over an hour ago our electricity went out. I was starting to get pretty concerned that we would have to pack up the 19 geckos and get in the car. Luckily the electric dept came through. I hope it stays on!

You can never have just one gecko. Actually it is almost impossible to have two

. . . I know what you are going through - we've been below zero for a couple days now. I've thought about that - but as long as it doesn't get into the 50's - we'd be ok with the geckos.

I have some shipping warmers that might have to do in a pinch, if the power went out. Those 40 hour ones would come in handy.

Good luck bud!!!

Just curious....how do those shipping warmers work? Are they like those things you put in your gloves to warm up your hands, but you have to snap the thing to mix the chemicals so it warms up??? Is there any risk of them getting to hot and burning the gecko?

Thanks
Red

They don't need anything snapped - they just need to be exposed to air. They are like hand warmers, but more industrial.

I don't think I would expose them to it directly. If the heat went out, I'd wrap it in some newspaper, like I do for shipping - and stick it right in their box. They could thermoregulate to their hearts content.
