Ok, so it's not fungus....Gottcha to look, eh?

This female dragon was given to me just today. She is in horrible, neglected condition. She was covered in bright green poo and is extremely thin. However, she appears that she will have nice colors if she makes it. Colors are washed out by the flash, but you can see the potential if you are looking at her.
My assumption on the poo is from eating too many green dyed pellets?? If this is not the case, anyone else ever heard of it??
I will get a stool sample into the vet my next day off to see what little boogers she's hiding.
The gentleman I aquired her from said he got her from a friend and that he was afraid of her (she did act like she would bite)and wouldn't touch her. She has quickly calmed down with me so far, but I imagine she has very little energy.
She has eaten crickets for me, but has refused any greens. She just sits on her basking rock and looks dejected and pathetic. Poor dear.

Repcal pellets make the poop green. I have noticed it, it is the way you can tell if a dragon is eating pellets.

That's a real shame. Good luck with her. I've seen green poop when my dragons eat the rep-cal pellets, or eat high amounts of greens. That poor girl doesn't look like she has eaten much of anything lately, and as you know it's easier getting them to eat live food then pellets, and greens. That's good she's going in for a fecal check. I don't know of any parasites that cause green poop personally thank God, but she looks bad, and I would not be surprised something is not going on with that. That's great you got her to eat some crickets though. Make sure she drinks plenty too. Maybe some pedialyte sp? or watered down Gatorade might help too. If she has poop all over her tail like that she most likely is dehydrated from the soft stools. Good Luck, and please keep us updated on her recovery.

I rescue wild critters all the time. Those that I can release i do, others I have been forced to hang onto.. I focused on smaller animals last year due to city restrictions.

Last year:
6 blue Jay (rescue - 5 released/1 kept - can't fly)
8 Mocking birds (all released)
6 sparrows (all released - 1 captured by mocking bird and eaten right away - took him too far away for me to get to - several MBs joined in for the feast - broke my heart - not 2 minutes of freedom.)
3 grackles (released)
9 ducks (released - 1 kept - too old and doesn't knwo duckdom)
1 box turtle (released)
1 2.5' iggie (rescue - still have - need to get her adopted!)
1 opossum (released - bottle fed him and he could not remember me - forgot me the moment I left his sight every time..became aggressive)
8 rabbits (released)
Various other reptiles.
I think that's about it??

Mind you, this does not include my own personal collections of critters.

I wonder what this year will bring???

At least she ended up in good hands. Looks like pellet-poo to me.. but the fecal is a good idea anyways.

ESU Jump Start is good stuff for animals that could use a large dose of calories. Beardies can easily bite the oral syrringe tip right off, so be careful w/that if you try it. That would probably be good for her because it's pretty high in fat.
