This sure brought back memories. Berlandier's were the first tortoises I owned back on the mid 1970's. Had a male and female and had them for 5 years before selling them to a more dedicated keeper. All I had to feed them back then was romaine lettuce and cactus pads, which were easy to find in central North Dakota. Kept them outside in the summer and indoor in a wood pen in winter. Never had any health problems at all. They were both still going strong in 1995, the last time I talked to the fellow I sold them to. Was more lucky than intelligent back in the old days.

ERNIE,I HAVE HAD MY FEMALE SINCE 1971-2 AND THOUGHT IT TO BE A MALE UNTIL I OBSERVED HER LAYING EGGS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. I UNDERSTAND LAYING UNFERTILIZED EGGS IS NORMAL. I SURE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A MALE TO KEEP HER COMPANY. IF YOU SPEAK TO YOUR FRIEND AND HE HAS HATCHLINGS I WOULD SURE LIKE TO BUY FROM HIM. . PLEASE ADVISE
THANKS B
