Finaly joined the true redtail world.....

lucy Jun 04, 2003 09:05 PM

I picked this guy up recently for $50. Somebody was advertising about him in a local paper as a 4ft columbian but when I got to the guys house the second I saw him I new he wasn't a columbian but I didn't know quite what he was. The twist to the story was that the guy that sold him to me left a live rat unsupervised in the boas 20gal long tank for 3 DAYS. If you look at the pics you can make out scars all over his tail and up his back. He just shed about 30 minutes ago and I took these pics and the scars are much much better than they were. I felt so bad for the poor thing I had to buy him off the guy. Later I found out he was a guyana redtail. Ironically the boa is the most mellow snake I've ever delt with. Unfortunately the rat also managed to chew up the boas face permanetly damaging his nostrils and his upper lip sticks straight out, which kind of look a little comical so I named him lips. Although you can't tell at all from the pics, he's extremely purple and his tail is to die for. The picks do not do him justice. Only frozen thawed from now on for this boy. Anyway, Ill shut up now, just wanted to share Thanks for reading!

kind of like how i got my boa, he isnt true i guess she is a mutt. well the dude i bought him from had crap piled up in the cage a hot rock and no other source of heat. i gave him 80 bucks, cleaned the cage out, cut the cord off of the rock,a dn built him a new cage. she has shed like 5 times, and is doing good. oh yeah she had some bad scars where she was attacked by his cat. i think he said he was feeding her 3 mice a week, she is still kind of skinny but is starting to throw some weight on her. she eats a couple of small rats a week now, or a small rat and a large mnouse or something like that. here is a pic of her, her name is lucky

The next time the shuttle lands, lets all get dressed up in ape suits and charge at the astronaughts yelling and ranting. That way they can try to figure out where they took a wrong turn.
