Sulcata respiratory infection...

gidyen39 Jun 04, 2003 09:19 PM

I just recieved a sulcata tortoise today. He is medium sized. I noticed when I took him out of the shipping box he was a little wheezy. I also just noticed his nose is runny. Does this mean he is sick? What can I do for him also when I take him to the vet what will they normally give him? Anymore info would be helpful. Thanks!

Respiratory infections (which is what it sounds like) are very serious and can kill a tortoise if left too long. Take him to the vet and he will get antibiotics for it. I forget which one they gave me when my female russian had a small one but it sure worked. Good luck and I hope he feels better soon

I took him to the vet yesterday and sure enought a URI. They gave me a nasal flush of baytril solution to apply every 24-48 hours. He said he should show no signs in 5-7 days
