Chameleon Names

shopaholic Jan 07, 2004 12:43 AM

Hi gang: so is there a book, a list, a site on good Chameleon names? I'm looking for a name for a boy Nosy Be x Ambanja Panther Cham. I don't have him yet, so don't know his personality. He IS cute as a button. Got any good ideas? Thanks-Maggie

Hi Maggie - you must be getting excited! Are you all set up yet? As for naming...I find it to be a very personal sort of decision and for me I try to go by personality. Luna was named the second day I had her, 2 of my anoles and my geckos went without names for months (the other I named within about 2 weeks). My cats I usually name within about a week.

I sometimes like to name them dependent on their species as well. My trio of R. brevi's were from Africa so I gave the two girls African names that fit their personality - then there was Bart - he looked like Bart Simpson!o if you want to do it that way you can just do seacrhes like: african female names

If you want a general site this guy's is AMAZING! Check it out

I found it when I was trying to name a cat (Akira, who died 6 days after I adopted her She was black and I was looking for translations of the word in other languages, which by the way can be a fun way to name, too. I think I was just doing general searches for names and came upon Jerry's site - talk about time on your hands! LOL!

Interestingly, I don't think I have used the site directly for naming, but it has certainly inspired me to look in many different ways. Akira is not "black" in any other language, but it is a Japanese and means "bright." she was a bright spot in my life after losing my other cat, Svette Lana, of 17 years. Btw, Akira is a boy's name, but I find many names can be gender-less!
