Do snakes get colds???

Psy Jan 07, 2004 04:45 AM

Hi all,

I was looking at my northern pine this morning and noticed he was a bit snotty. Just wondering if snakes get colds, i suppose they must do, other animals do. If so can this cause any problems i should be wary about.

Thanx to anyone who can help

Psy

Snakes get respiratory infections for a variety of reasons, usually temperatures too low over a sustained period or improper humidity levels. Pits are pretty tough...my guess is this is strictly temperature related.

What are your cage temps?

You should consider getting the snake to a good reptile vet before it goes into Pnumonia and kills the snake.

And...keep it in a warm, insulated container when you take it out in the cold to the vet!

Good Luck!
