What's wrong with Rupert's tail...help!

MonkeyLove Jan 07, 2004 08:17 AM

Here is a picture of my painted's tail. I noticed it last week and it does not seem to be getting better or worse. What is it? Thanks.

Today the white stuff is gone from his tail, but his tail looks scared now...what happened. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

maybe he got a laceration from rubbing against a sharp rock
or perhaps he was bitten by another animal or turtle.
it doesn't look too bad to me but even a little cur could get infected.
watch it for a while.
see if any scabby thing develops or if ay more white stuff comes back in a large area.
if so
dry dock him for aday or so
and then see if it gets better.
keep us posted.

The white stuff came back last Friday.

I was worried that it might be an infection of some sort so I put a couple Zoo Med Dr. Turtle Sulfa blocks in Rupert's tank Friday.

His tail hasn't gotten visibly better.

You think I should keep him out of the water for a couple days?

Here's a pic I just took. I can't tell if it's getting worse or has sort of scabbed over and is getting better...
