Hey all, just wanted to spread an idea for cricket food. I have been using flukers cricket feed. I buy it 5 lbs at a time, and the cheapest I have gotten it for is $10 it is usually more. My wife that went to agricultural school and worked on many farms swore up and down that it was just chicen food. I told her maybe I would get some chicken food to try out. Then I spoke with a guy that has been into reptiles for probably 15 years now. He used to run an exotic zoo and has kept venomous, I respect his opinion very much. I asked him what he uses, and he told me chicken feed, just not the medicated kind. I went to the feed store (Agway) and bought some chicken feed. It looks the same as the flukers stuff however it actually smells better. I bought 18 lbs and it was $5.50 ($0.30/lb). I am excited, so much cheaper. The type I got was called egg layer mash. So it is loaded with calcium. I filled up two fluker containers I had laying around and put several inches in a 10 gallon as bedding for my supers. I will no longer be buying flukers unless I need another container. Oh the other thing those fluker containers are good for is making cricket water gel. It holds exactly one gallon of it. Also found 5 gallons of the cricket water for $10 at a recent show. Cheap cricket care and my crickets are loving it. I wish I new if the cricket gel was polyachrilimide or agarose, then it would be even cheaper. Just thought some of you that go through crickets like I do would like the idea if you haven't thought of it already.

The insects like it and do well on it too. Take care, Lindsay
