Really?? a beardie that has trich?? I sit at a microscope all day and deal with many different body parts (human) especially female/male genital tract and from what i know about trich is that it is a sexually transmitted disease. (i am totally new to the world of beardies) I have heard of it in cows/bulls and ?maybe pigeons,,,, usually its asymptomatic but can cause problems with females/calves---I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE in that field however. It is a single celled parasite if that helps. Sounds like an internet search to me!

Trichomonas are flagellates that are part of the normal flora in the lower digestive and urogenital tract of reptiles. They are generally nonpathogenic, but trichomoniasis occurs when the numbers get out of whack (stress after shipping, illness, etc). Metronidazole is a very safe antibiotic and antiprotozoal drug that kills many species of flagellates. I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as you follow the veterinarian's advice and treatment plan.
