I have 11 corns all in a big cage. One of them is sneezing and coughing and looks dehydrated. They have plenty of food and water and yesterday another started doing it. I have isolated them, but I do not know how to cure them. Help?
Thanks

And get the snakes warm and dry. 80 degrees and 30-40% humididty.
Call the vet ASAP.
Thank you for your non-criticizing honest advice.
Have you read ANYTHING about keeping corns? You said in the post below you had 11 different kinds of corns, now you say you had them all in the same cage??
Get the snakes to a vet, they're probably all sick now

This comming from the "expert" that just flat-out-knew for sure that the snake pictured below could not be an Okeetee and looked nothing like one because he owns 11 snakes. With all that experience how could I have doubted him.
What do you mean they have plenty of food?
Is it just laying around in there?
Do you mean they all eat on a regular basis?
You said you have 11 in one cage but then you said you isolated them, did you isolate all 11 together?
I'm sorry but this one just bugged the sh** out of me.

jesus that was a real smart move, buy some more cages and get them to a vet. Do you even understand why everyone is up set at this? Scott
Some of us are just wondering why anyone would put 11 corn snakes together. Are they hatchlings? Are they all adults? Are they mixed ages?If there not hatchlings your putting alot of stress on those snakes.Stress can kill a snake off fast. Most caresheets and books advise against keeping snakes together. There main reason is if one snake get's sick and dies there could be a domino effect on the rest of your snakes. There are many debates about housing them together in here.Unless im breeding them they can just blow kisses to each other through the glass. If i were you i would have them all seperated and take the whole lot to the vets...Paul
Yes they are hatchling
And thank you for your honest advice. I will round up some separate containers until I can get cages.
How can I keep them all warm if they are in many smaller cages?
Right now I am using an overhead light.
Thanks again
I would need to know what you have them in before i can answer that.I dont want you catching things on fire...Paul.
however, you have to understand everyone's frustration. I don't think you've ever said you're an expert and I'm glad you did post for some advice. But it is really a valid question as to why you'd put multiple - not just one or two, but 11 - snakes together. We're wondering what kind of research you did before acquiring your snakes, and since you didn't give any information it's assumed you did none - which leads to further frustration.
Not only that, but you really didn't provide much information to allow anyone to give a lot of advice (feeding schedule, food size, age/size of snakes, temperatures, cage setup, etc).
It seems agreed that they need to be isolated (each one separated from the other) in a proper setup and get them to the vet before things get worse.
Hopefully, you'll provide more info and take any and all advice you get seriously while ditching the defensiveness and put the care of your snakes first.
Best of luck

11 snakes, less than a year old.
Feeding frozen pinkies every 5 days (Each snake eats separate)
Temp is 84 on one end and 70 on the other.
They have water
They are in a 35 gallon low glass cage with a secure top.
I use pine shaving real thick (so they can hide) and I have several store bought drift wood pieces in there so they can hide in and under them. I live by myself so there is no one to bang on the glass or generally bother them. I have no dogs or cats to bother them either. They even get natural sunlight for a couple hours a day.
They are not regurging and they are not quick to scare. They are active but not all day.
How do pet stores get away with 10 boas in a cage or 5 rat snakes in another?
And to make the experts feel better, I did plenty of research before I bought so I would not be one of those people who buy a baby retic "because they look cool" and then after it gets too big, let it out in the woods or starve it to death.
I appreciate your words, all I am looking for is advice. If anyone reading this has real advice I would really appreciate your input.
To the Demi-god "experts": Don't waste my time with your high and mighty condescending crap.
You need to get rid of the pine shavings. The oils and resigns from pine can cause repiratory problems in corns.

Definetly get rid of the pine shavings - you want to stay away from pine and cedar. Get with a vet also
Petstores can get away with multiple snakes in an enclosure because the snakes aren't meant to be there forever. Some might even say that the petstores really don't care about the snakes well-being because they are just out to make money. They are able to stock more snakes in less space by putting them together. Many herpers steer away from petstores for these and other reasons.
I think I remember you saying that they are all separated now - what are they in? You should consider investing in a rack to keep them all in - or you can even make one yourself.

I'm not trying to be either - although I'd rather be mighty than high! lol. I started 2 years ago & still need to learn more, but Draybar is right. Everything I've read & heard has said not to use pine because of the resins & oil. I use aspen & have had no trouble. People also use newspaper, paper towels & a gray recycled, shredded kind of paper - I don't knmow what it's called.
