Moss problem. Need help please

mbmcewen Jan 07, 2004 12:15 PM

This moss has been in the tank for a couple of months now. It was purchased from Black Jungle, labeled as "sheet moss". It has always been a darg green but it is now turning black in places. I have one 5500K light and one 3700K light. The moss is layed over coco bedding. I spary once a day and the humidity stays around 95% any ideas? or suggestions for a better moss?

Thanks,

Might be too wet. If it sits on very wet bedding it will rot (unless it's aquatic type . I keep mine over gravel so it only retains what it needs, rest drains through the gravel and grows fine.

I have that problem with my leuc tank, moss does not like it, the ground just gets too wet. Now I have very good luck with it over rocks.

If your "dirt" is touching water or laying in it, the earth will wick water up into it and stay too wet. I use eco earth also, but I am going to pull the moss up, scrape the earth out where it lays and put gravle down...just under the moss

I have just started looking at T&C stock, and I like what I see. One thing I like is that they lost the native origins of their plants...which I am now paying attention to.
