dehydration signs

louis6 Jun 04, 2003 09:55 PM

Is it a sign of dehydration to have two small holes/indentions behind the front legs (one behind each leg). I've never seen her drink so I think she could be dehydrated.

What are some ways to give her water? Would I have to take a dripper and drip a few drops? How much do you think and how often?

Thanks, I'm pretty sure this is the problem.

Actually those sound like normal features of a leopard gecko. What you really want to be on the watch for is lateral skin folds along the sides of the body of your leopard. Most adults and even juveniles will take water from a small dish. With my hatchlings I like to keep them without a humid hide until they are more established. What I do is either spray the corner where there regular hide is located or even just drop some water onto the paper towel on the same side as the hide. Once the enclosure is back on the heat source it tends to form condensation on the inside walls of their hide. This mimics what natural occurs in the wild with dew as well as rain. This technique works very well and I recommend it. Hope this helps you out.
