Does it come as a rock or tile or what and where might I be able to purchase it?
I just got mine at Home Depot as large outdoor tiles. I find they fit a 20 gallon long tank perfectly, but there is space on the end. You could either have a third tile cut to fill that space or you could fill that with an alternate substrate.

How many should I buy? And would calci-sand be ok just that little bit to fill in the gap? How big is the gap and how much is slate?
I posted a pic of the setup actually in a recent post- naturalistic terrarium. Check it out. Yes, I filled in with calci-sand. I personally think if the geckos are big enough- around 7 inches- that a little calcisand only in their poo-poo place won't hurt , if they're fed mealies in a dish on the slate, supplemented with calcium, they are otherwise healthy, and their other envoironment is non granular. It is true that any granular substance can create some impaction risk, I just think the risk here is negligible- but I am watching the gecko poops to make sure they aren't ingesting the sand. If I saw they were I'd take it out and use something else. But they seem really happy in there, especially at night when they go climbing

they come in any form really...you can buy chunks of it and you can buy tile. the tiles come in all different sizes and is really nice looking. You can find it at home depot low's and most anywhere else. I even saw it at wal-mart once. Great stuff i have it in both of my tanks!
Hope that helped,
